Аннотация: Представлен историографический обзор проблем исследований древнейшей керамики Восточной Азии в интервале 20–18 – 9 тыс. л. н. Ареал исследования включает Японский архипелаг, южную часть Российского Дальнего Востока, Китай, полуостров Корея. Предметом дискуссий являются периодизация памятников с ранней керамикой, социально-экономические условия появления технологии изготовления глиняной посуды, ее функциональная роль в древних обществах, реконструкция технологических навыков и технического уровня изготовления древнейшей посуды, морфология и декор. В этих направлениях немало вопросов и «белых пятен». На восточной окраине Евразийского континента технология изготовления глиняной посуды впервые появилась примерно на 10 000 лет раньше, чем на Ближнем Востоке. Пример Восточной Азии показывает, что связь между появлением керамической посуды и развитием земледелия не носит универсального, обязательного характера. Можно говорить об определенных региональных различиях в формировании навыков изготовления древнейшей керамической посуды в Восточной Азии.
